I had about stuffies on shelves in my room and I would play on the website all the time. At that time, the Deluxe Membership wasn't anything. The most you would get is online special pets and some cool new clothes.
I loved the old webkinz because you could do everything without having to pay extra money. The site was easy to manage and you didn't have to go on it everyday to make sure your pet was healthy. I recently started playing again but the website had totally changed.
I had to go on everyday to make sure all of my pets which is over were healthy and fed and only one pet would take more than half an hour to get happy; and everything was deluxe. My favourite games that i had high scores in, were deluxe. The classes my pet was acing, were deluxe. Everything that used to be fun in Webkinz is now deluxe. Very disapointed with the way my favourite childhood thing turned out.

Back then there were very few ads, the only consumerism was that you had to buy a webkinz toy to play, but to my knowledge there was nothing on the website that costed real money.
Times have changed for the worst tho, and that change started when webkinz introduced their stupid deluxe membership! On top of that they've made the website accessible to people who don't buy the toys so you can just go to webkinz. Nowadays the website moves insanely slow, is riddled with ads and you must have the deluxe membership as well as buy a webkinz toy even if you already own a bunch you must buy another!
There's also now things in the webkinz w-shop that costs real money to buy on top of all that other stuff!
None of the deluxe membership stuff is new or created for the deluxe membership either, they instead just took a bunch of the stuff that used to be free on the website and now make you pay for it by having this deluxe membership!
When I was a kid I would recommend this website to all my friends, but nowadays due to all the ads and stuff I'd recommend it to no one! And unfortunately I don't think they'll ever change any of this stuff. Asides from massive consumerism there's really no bad content on the website.
