Is Beowulf a true hero? Was Beowulf selfish? Why is Beowulf selfless? Was Beowulf greedy? What motivates Beowulf? How does Beowulf represent good? What type of person is Beowulf? What is the characteristics of Beowulf? Is Beowulf smart? How does Beowulf show courage? How does Beowulf show loyalty? How does Beowulf show faith? You rarely hear any good things that happen. Beowulf is an example of someone who represents good and Grendel is someone who represents evil.
This is an example of good because Beowulf went out of his way and put his life in danger for the good of the people. A hero is willing to sacrifice his life for someone and that is what Beowulf does every battle. Beowulf battles with each of the monsters represent the battle between good and evil, but of course the good always win. Beowulf shows courage, bravery, and loyalty in each battle. Beowulf is old now still willing to fight for more fame he seeks.
Greed is shown in The Pardoners Tale as the rioters fight over money. The three rioters get told by a man that he left death under a tree and they well find him waiting there they run off to the tree and find a pile of golden florins which is money. As the third rioter left the other two rioters planned to kill him when he gets back to get more money each. As the third rioter runs back to down he is planning to kill them both.
He knows that he can buy poison and put it in two out of the three drinks so he good have all the money to. Beowulf often claims things about himself and wants to do things his own way. Beowulf had a cocky and selfish nature to start with, and that was Just accentuated even more because of his soldiers and people.
His greed is predatory. The dragon symbolizes greed. As demonstrated in Beowulf, gold is to be used by the ring-givers kings to reward the deeds of heroes, particularly successful warriors returning from conquest.
Beowulf wants glory because it is through performing great deeds of strength and courage that he will be remembered. From the beginning, Beowulf is rightly concerned about how the rest of the world will see him.
